MacBook Migrant is a week-long series of posts highlighting tricks new or aspiring Mac owners familiar with Windows can use to ease the transition. In the Open with section, choose the application you want, and then click the Change All button under the sentence ‘Use this application to open all documents like this one’. If you want to change the application used to launch a particular file type, select a file of the relevant type in Finder and choose ‘Get Info’ from the File menu (or use Command-I as a shortcut). app files in your Applications window, for instance. It’s a truly system-wide change if you do this, all your apps will show up as. You can change this by choosing Preferences on the Finder menu (or use Command-Comma), going to the Advanced tab and ensuring that ‘Show all filename extensions’ is checked. Like Windows, by default Mac OS doesn’t show file extensions. That will put folders together at the top, but won’t necessarily arrange other files in the order you want them.įile types and associations. You can rename folders to all start with a space, or choose View - Arrange by - Kind to show files by type. There doesn’t seem to be a simple way to fix this. If you’re used to navigating down through folders by keyboard, this slows the process quite a bit. On the Mac, this doesn’t happen folders are treated the same as files (and hence sorted by name in the default view). In standard Explorer views, folders are always listed at the top, before individual files, which makes it easy to drill down to sub-directories. (The non-keyboard equivalent is to drag to the Trash can on the Dock.)įolders get mixed in with other files. To delete files in Finder, type Command-Delete - the Delete key on its own won’t work. To get the same effect in Mac OS, type Command-Up Arrow. On Windows, you can hit the Backspace key to move up a directory. If that bugs you (it certainly bugs me), you can fix that behaviour with an Automator script or use MoveAddict (though the latter is a paid app). While you can use Copy (Command-C) and Paste (Command-V) to make a copy of a file, you can’t use Control-X to cut one and then move it elsewhere. To open the file, double-click it or type Command-O. In Windows, selecting a file and hitting Enter opens the file. You can open most files in the built-in Preview app by tapping on Space when they are selected. Cover Flow (Command-4) lets you scroll through the files while offering a preview of their contents. Columns (Command-3) shows a brief list as you open folders, these display alongside the original list in additional columns. List (Command-2) displays filename, type, size and date modified. You can access these by clicking on the small group of buttons at the top of the window, by selecting them from the View menu, or by using the keyboard shortcuts we’re mentioning here. To force it to move, hold down Command while dragging. To force a file to copy, hold down the Option while dragging. (To open extra Finder windows, select File –> New Finder Window or type Command-N.)īy default, files will copy if dragged to a different drive, and move if dragged somewhere else on the same drive. You can also drag files between different windows to copy or move them. On both platforms, you can navigate through lists using the arrow keys, and type individual letters to jump to files or folders starting with that letter.

I'm trying to get a little tipsy and convince my friends to rent a summer house with me, you know?Ĭasey's thoughts on White Tea Peach: Something to know about me is that I hate peach-flavored things. My biggest complaint? That is only has 4.2% alcohol. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this drink. It has a slight monk fruit taste similar to the Hibiscus Pom flavor, which I personally don't like as much as the Lemon Iced Tea flavor, but it's still pretty dang good. Lara's thoughts on White Tea Peach: I am going to give this drink a solid 7/10. Like, objectively, it's a solid beveragino, but for someone who isn't super into lemon/ginger bevs - it reminds me of the Theraflu my dad used to make me drink as a kid - you can understand why this one isn't exactly my ~cup of tea~. BUT I'm also not super keen on Arnold Palmers, which is what this tastes like. And you know what would probably make this even better? Having it in a tall glass with ice.Įhis's thoughts on Lemon Iced Tea: I was not a huge fan of this one. Still not the biggest fan of the sugar taste BUT I'm loving the hint of ginger and the fact that it actually tastes like hard tea. I will 10/10 be drinking this one again.Ĭasey's thoughts on Lemon Iced Tea: Okay, okay, okay, we've got some Snapple/Arizona Iced Tea on our hands. It has a slight artificial taste but mostly just tastes like an alcohol iced tea, which is exactly what it's supposed to taste like. Big Arnold Palmer energy, which is some of the best energy a drink could have, IMO. Lara's thoughts on Lemon Iced Tea: I love this one! It was my favorite of the three flavors I tried. It's like a spiked Starbucks hibiscus refresher. I can also DEF taste the ~kissed with lime~ flavor, which I really really like. Now, on to the taste: I'm not gonna lie, there's an artificial aftertaste with this one BUT I kinda don't mind it? It doesn't burn like alcohol when you're drinking it so I need some kind of reminder that there's liquor in these bevvies, or else I'mma be knocking these back like they do on Summer House. Like, can we all agree that this was Amanda's brainchild and probs not Kyle's? Just me? OK. Why can't I stop talking about this goddamn gorgeous can?Įhis's thoughts on Hibiscus Pom: Chiming in, once again, to talk about how TOP-TIER this packaging is. It basically tastes like a great tea with fake sugar, which, to be honest, many people do enjoy. It definitely has a fake sugar aftertaste BUT I will say that I love that I can't taste any weird alcohol aftertaste. So that's something.Ĭasey's thoughts on Hibiscus Pom: First of all, I know Lara already said this, but can we talk about how beautiful this can is? It's a really pretty can!!! The Hibiscus Pom inside of it? I have mixed feelings. But listen, if someone offered me a Loverboy Hibicus Pom or some shitty beer, Loverboy wins every time. There was definitely the dreaded aftertaste, which is likely due to the monk fruit and not actually anything artificial since the drink doesn't have anything artificial in it, for the record. But unfortunately this flavor tasted just a little too artificial to me. Plus, I like the packaging! Good job Amanda. Lara's thoughts on Hibiscus Pom: I really wanted to like this one because the whole concept of Hibiscus Pom sounds tropical and like a situation that I want to be a part of. Deep cycle batteries are ideal for applications that require more than a quick start, such as: Golf carts. It is a slim 0.2VDC between the desired recharge point of 50% capacity, and the undesirable fully discharged state that separates good battery management from poor battery management.Īlthough it is possible to estimate battery capacity using a voltage reading, it is far easier and more accurate to use a battery monitor. 1-48 of 219 results for 'deep cycle battery tester' Results Price and other details may vary based on product size and color. If your battery voltage is below the particular level of your charger, the charger wont acknowledge a viable battery hookup, and wont pass current. If the only means of estimating remaining battery capacity is a voltage meter, then a reasonable approximation can be made based on an accurate digital voltage measurement with a battery utilizing lead/acid chemistry.Ī standard lead/acid cell has a voltage range from 2VDC-2.12VDC so a 12VDC battery (six cells) will have a nominal range of 12.0VDC-12.72VDC. However, not every boat is equipped with that type of device nor does every boat owner have such a device in their budget. The best way to determine remaining battery capacity is by using a self-learning battery monitor with a percentage state of charge function (SOC). Application (Universal): This denotes the app that supports both Apple Silicon and Intel processors, and uses Apple Silicon by default.Application (Intel): This means that the app supports only Intel processors and needs Rosetta to work on any Mac with Apple Silicon. The Get Info trick is also a great way to identify universal Mac apps that need Rosetta or can use Rosetta by viewing the information labelled Kind: if they require plugins only available as Intel binaries). The "Open using Rosetta" flag is only relevant for universal binaries (which contain both Intel and ARM code) to force them to open with Rosetta (e.g. Intel-only binaries automatically open with Rosetta 2, there is no other way to run them. The second version (Rosetta 2), introduced in 2020 as a component of macOS Big Sur, and is part of the Mac transition from Intel processors to Apple silicon. Background, and deeper info about Rosetta To grab Microsoft 365 update, head to the Mac App Store and check the Updates tab. Specifically, the apps getting an upgrade are Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Microsoft is rolling out fresh versions of its Office apps that work natively with Apple’s M1 chip, the powerhouse of the new Macbook Air, Macbook Pro and Mac Mini. Rosetta will then be available for any of your apps that need it. The first time you launch a Mac app on an Apple Silicon computer, you might be asked to install the Rosetta component to open it. That need to translate on the first run means the apps may initially launch a little more slowly than normal (up to 20 seconds, in some cases), but you won’t experience the same delay the next time you run the application. Some apps (including Microsoft Office apps) are translated the first time you run them. When translation finishes, the system launches the translated executable in place of the original. If an executable contains only Intel instructions, macOS automatically launches Rosetta and begins the translation process. To the user, Rosetta is mostly transparent. In short, it translates apps built for Intel so they will run on Apple Silicon (like the M1 chip). Rosetta 2 is an emulator designed to bridge the transition between Intel and Apple processors. Please update to EndNote 20.1.0 Rosetta explanation The EndNote 20.1.0 update provides compatibility with Apple Silicon-based Macintosh. Having questions? Top the beef and noodle casserole with the remaining cheddar cheese, then bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted. Continue mixing until the cheddar cheese has melted.Īdd the al dente macaroni noodles, and mix until the noodles are evenly coated in sauce. Stir in the sour cream and cheddar cheese. Pour in the milk, and stir until it has combined with the flour and created a smooth consistency. Sprinkle the flour over the ground beef mixture, and mix to evenly coat the beef in it. Mix in the garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, oregano, pepper, and garlic powder. (See the recipe card below for the full printable instructions.)Īdd in the onions, and saute until they’re translucent. Add the butter to the pan, and let it melt into the beef. Continue cooking it until the beef is almost all the way cooked through, then drain off any excess grease. Start by browning the ground beef in a Dutch oven. Using some of the cheese in the sauce, and sprinkling some on top, makes the whole dish deliciously cheesy. Pre-grated cheeses are coated in an anti-caking agent that stops the cheese from melting smoothly. Just be sure to make sure you’re not using a seasoned or salted tomato sauce, otherwise the added spices and salt might be too overpowering in this dish.Ĭheese: Using freshly grated cheddar cheese is so important. The combination of a creamy tomato sauce with ground beef and noodles is really such a winning combination! Tomato Sauce: Tomato sauce adds tons of flavor to this dish. It’s also important to use whole milk for the same reason. I do recommend using room temperature milk and sour cream because then the sauce is much less likely to curdle. Milk and Sour Cream: A combination of milk and sour cream makes the sauce creamy without thinning it out too much. It’s what makes the sauce thick and luxurious This combination seasons the sauce perfectly!įlour: Flour is the thickener that we’re using to thicken the sauce. Spices: We’re using a homemade spice blend consisting of Italian seasoning, ground black pepper, fine sea salt, dried oregano, and garlic powder. If you decide to add bacon, you could also just use the bacon grease because it’s super flavorful.Īromatics: A combination of fresh onion and fresh garlic adds tons of flavor to this dish. You could use oil, but I really prefer the flavor of butter. You could also add in bacon crumbles to add another layer of flavor.īutter: Butter is the fat that’s going to combine with the flour to make a roux, which is how the sauce is thickened. You could substitute that with crumbled sausage if you prefer though. Meat: I like to use lean ground beef in this recipe. It isn’t 100% necessary, because it will be delicious either way, but boiling the noodles in beef broth does take the recipe to the next level. Both ways are delicious! Just be sure to check the recipe card because the pasta measurements are different.Īlso, if you really want to amp up the flavor, you can add some beef bouillon to the pot of water you’re cooking the pasta in. Pasta: I prefer making this recipe with elbow macaroni noodles, but I’ve also tested it with other short noodles (and included photographs of both). The Dean Shire Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar offers a fresh unique look with some modern technology to create a guitar that exceeds expectations. But for budding photographers, it offers a lot. Video shooters should look elsewhere, because it lacks both a microphone port and a USB-C connection. And because it has a smaller Four Thirds sensor than those APS-C cameras, it's an even more compact package when combined with the hundreds of lenses you can pair with it. While it isn't radically cheaper than its Canon EOS R10 and Fujifilm X-T30 II rivals, the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is a little more affordable for beginners. All that’s really missing is a wide choice of native lenses, a situation that should hopefully improve soon. While there’s no flat color profile, it can record uncropped 4K/30p footage by oversampling from the sensor’s 6K resolution. Its video skills give it some hybrid versatility, too. Handheld options are limited after dark by the absence of in-body image stabilization, but the EOS R10 otherwise holds up well against APS-C rivals, producing clean, detailed stills with pleasant colors. Burst shooting rates of 15fps also make it a good choice if you want to try action photography. During our review, AF tracking proved both intuitive and impressively reliable for a beginner camera. Its 24.2MP sensor isn’t cutting-edge, but modern autofocus skills and Canon’s punchy Digic X processor make it an adaptable camera to grow into. The articulating touchscreen also feels like a natural switch from smartphone shooting. Compact yet comfy in the hand, its dual control dials and dedicated AF joystick made it easy to try different techniques in testing. Striking a great balance between accessibility and performance, we think the Canon EOS R10 is a fantastic entry-level camera to learn and improve with. What’s more, the top options offer enough performance for you to grow into, too. Proving that you don’t need pro tools to shoot impressive images, these entry-level models make photography accessible for all. Whether you’re upgrading from a smartphone or just starting out, the best beginner mirrorless cameras make it easy to improve your photography. The arrival of a third camera would surely signal Canon's renewed commitment to APS-C cameras and the arrival of more lenses that are both compact and affordable enough to be good matches for beginner-friendly cameras like the EOS R10. Our only real criticism of the EOS R10 and EOS R10 is that they currently lack native lenses, with only two RF-S options available for those cameras. There aren't any rumored specs for that camera yet, but this is potentially good news for Canon fans who'll be on the hunt for an entry-level mirrorless camera in 2023. But it seems the camera giant won't be stopping there with its APS-C lineup – according to Canon Rumors, it's prepping a Canon EOS R8 (or possibly EOS R9) to sit in between the two. This year we saw Canon launch the EOS R10 and EOS R7, two beginner-friendly models that are both in our list below. |
